DIN 931 Hex Bolt half thread Carbon Steel Grade 8.8 | Zinc Plated M6–M36

This is a half-thread hex bolt made to DIN 931 and ISO 4014, with the thread running the entire length of the shank. No plain section, no partial grip — the whole bolt does the clamping work. We roll the threads, not cut them, so the grain flow stays intact and the bolt keeps its fatigue strength. Made in our own factory with material certs and heat-number traceability on every lot. Sizes run M6 to M36, carbon or alloy steel, classes 4.8 up to 12.9.

Product Introduction

Walk through our plant and you'll see why we treat the hex bolt as a precision part, not a commodity. The wire rod goes into a cold header, the head is formed in one hit, then the thread gets rolled — not cut. Rolling keeps the grain flow running through the thread roots, which is exactly where a bolt loses its fatigue life if you cut corners. In a vibrating joint, that difference shows up fast.

half thread means the thread runs from under the head all the way to the tip. There's no plain shank section, so the half length carries the load. That makes DIN 931 the right pick for clamping thin material stacks, or anywhere the thread itself has to do the gripping. We hold 6g thread tolerance, and we check it with ring gauges on the line, not just on paper.

Every lot gets hardness and tensile checks before it ships. Material certs go with the order as standard; if you want an SGS report on top, that's routine for us. You tell us the grade, the finish, and the length. We make it, test it, and pack it. That's the whole system.

Why Fasto

We own the factory. Twenty-plus years of fastener exports, screws and bolts and rivets, all under one roof. No trading layers, no mystery sources.
Every batch gets tested. Hardness, coating thickness, salt spray, thread gauging — 12 parameters checked before a carton ships. We don't test occasionally, we test every batch.
Certified to the level your customers expect. IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 for the system, CE, SGS and RoHS for the product. Send us your vendor audit form, it's already covered.
Standards you can put in a spec sheet. DIN 7504, ISO 15480, ISO 10666, ANSI/ASME B18.6.4 — your engineers will recognize the numbers.
Packaging built for export. Export cartons, pallet loads that survive the container, custom kit packs if you sell to crews rather than distributors.
Honest lead times. We quote what the production line actually says, and we hit it. That's how you keep a 20-year relationship with buyers on three continents.

Pain Points & Solutions

Pain Point on the Job Site How the ME-01 Answers It
Screw can't start in hard sheet, crew wastes time pre-drilling Case-hardened drill point punches its own hole — no pilot drilling, one tool for the whole run
Hex head strips out under impact driver Deeper hex socket and tighter drive fit; the driver engages full-face instead of the corners
Washer sinks into soft sheet, panel looks wavy Full hex washer head spreads bearing load; the panel stays flat
Coating fails in coastal or humid climates Hot-dip galvanized and Dacromet options, salt spray verified per batch up to 300 h
Threads slip or jam in thin coated sheet Point and thread geometry tuned per gauge; we match the size chart to your material
Mixed-size orders arrive with wrong counts Batch traceability and per-size box counts; custom kit packing on request

FAQ

Q1. Do these screws need pre-drilling?
No. That's the point of a self-drilling screw. The drill point cuts its own pilot hole, so you're down to one operation — drive it in. On 12-gauge steel, that's usually under two seconds per screw.
Q2. What's the difference between a #2, #3 and #5 drill point?
Thickness of the material, mostly. #2 handles light sheet up to about 1.0 mm. #3 is the job-site standard for 1.0–3.0 mm steel — the one we sell most. #5 gets you through heavier plate and structural sections. When in doubt, send us your material gauge and we'll tell you which point to run.
Q3. Which surface treatment should I choose?
Depends on the environment. Blue-white zinc covers indoor and dry applications. Hot-dip galvanized or Dacromet is the honest answer for coastal air, chemical exposure, or anything that gets wet for years. We run salt spray tests on every coating batch, so the number on the datasheet is a test result, not a guess.
Q4. Can I get custom sizes, point styles, or packaging?
Yes. We make these in our own plant, so custom lengths, point grinding, and kit packaging are routine. Give us your gauge, thickness and order volume — we'll confirm the mix before production.
Q5. What certifications do you hold?
IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 for quality systems; CE, SGS and RoHS for the products. Full test reports ship with the order on request.
Q6. What's the lead time on a standard container order?
Usually 15–25 days after confirmation, depending on size mix and coating. We quote from the production line, not a sales sheet, so the date we give you is the date we load.
