This hole size specification is generally based on customer requirements. Plain washers, which spread a load, and prevent damage to the surface being fixed, or provide some sort of insulation such as electrical.
Steel Flat Washer is generally used to distribute the load of a threaded fastener, such as a bolt, screws or nut. Due to the material and process limitations of the threaded fasteners, the bearing surfaces of the fasteners, such as bolt, screws or nut, are not large. Therefore, in order to reduce the compressive stress of the pressure receiving surface and protect the surface of the connected member, a flat washer is used.
Other uses are as a spacer, spring (wave washer), wear pad, preload indicating device, locking device, and to reduce vibration , rubber washer.
