You’re sourcing fasteners for a structural frame or a piece of heavy equipment. Your first question is almost always, “What’s the grade?”
An 8.8, a 10.9, or an A4. You get a datasheet with the right number, and you feel the job is done.
But site reality often tells a different story. Two shipments, both labeled Grade 10.9, can behave very differently once the torque wrenches come out. One tightens smoothly to spec. The other feels inconsistent—or months later, shows early corrosion or a loose joint.
The grade got the fastener approved. It didn’t guarantee performance.
This gap between the number on paper and the behavior in the field is where delays, rework, and disputes usually begin.
