Drywall nail, wall board nail, fiberboard nail difference

Many people confuse tapping with drywall nails, wallboard nails, and fiberboard nails because they are similar. It’s hard to tell the difference if you don’t touch them often, but I’ll briefly explain the differences, how they work, and what they’re used for.

Also called drywall nails, wallboard nails. Used to connect drywall to wood keel and drywall to light steel keel.
There is usually a lot of black in the market, that is, black print. And blue and white. Blue zinc, maybe there’s not a lot of lanthanum zinc in the country.
More than 80% of drywall nails are concentrated in 3.5×25 specifications. Because it is mainly used for drywall, the drywall is the same thickness.

Selection criteria for dry wall hanging nails:
1. Have a round head. (This is also common to all round head screws.) Due to manufacturing process issues, many factory drywall nail heads may not be round, and some may be somewhat square. The problem is that it doesn’t fit the drywall exactly. Concentric circles? It makes sense to go around the center.
2. Point to point. Especially when it comes to light steel keels. The sharp Angle of the dry wall nail is generally between 22 and 26 degrees, and the sharp Angle of the head should be full, without traction line and crack phenomenon. This “point” is important for drywall nails. Because the use of drywall nails does not drill prefabricated holes, but instead rotates directly, the prongs also function as drill bits. Especially in the light steel keel, the bad point will not drill into, will directly affect the use of. According to national standards, wallboard nails can penetrate 6mm of iron in one second.
3. Don’t play favorites. An easy way to determine if the thin wall nails are eccentric is to place the round head on a table and confirm that the threaded part is vertical and should be in the middle of the head. If the screws are eccentric, the problem is that the power tools will shake when tightened. Short screws are good, but long screws are bad.
4. The cross groove should be located in the middle of the round head.

Many people use self-tapping nails on trees, in fact, Zigong nails are not suitable for wood. self tapping nail comes from the English self taping scrup. In fact, another name is sheet metal screws. You probably know Chinese as a thin iron plate screw. This is his main use, for joining thin iron objects, such as thin iron plates, aluminum alloys, etc.

Tapping screws come in a variety of heads, the most common being needles and plates, and the vast majority are zinc.
Why it is not suitable for wood, because the screws on Zigong nails are relatively shallow and cannot provide enough tension for wood, especially particleboard, etc. Iron objects are hard and screws can provide as much tension as magnetic holes for shallow screws. Another reason is that when screws are tightened with screws, screw holes are formed by connectors. The shallower screws are, the smaller the deformation is. In the case of hard objects such as iron, the smaller the deformation is and the easier it is to tighten.

Self-tapping nail options:
Like drywall nails, some are generic. For example, the groove should be in the center of the head and not eccentric. All this can be seen from the outside.
Because it is used for metal connection, the mechanical properties of self-tapping nails are very important, which can not be seen from the appearance. There are commonly used surface hardness, core hardness, torque, can not have hydrogen embrittlement. All require professional testing. But the quality measure you can use is to set the screw and hit it with a hammer. Generally speaking, when the screw is bent to within 15 degrees, it cannot be broken. All right. 30 degrees, even above 45 degrees is fine. Or use pliers to kink, kink constantly, hardness is better.
Below is another type of screw for wood, commonly known as fiberboard screws. Fiberboard screws can be divided into fine teeth, coarse teeth, ribs and ribs. Generally speaking, countries in the northern Hemisphere use fine teeth without many tendons, while countries in the Southern hemisphere use thick teeth with many tendons.
Fiberboard screws are used with various kinds of wood and are helpful for DIY furniture. High hardness (after heat treatment), thread suitable for connecting wood, simple to use, without small size prefabricated holes, can be directly screwed on the tree, large size prefabricated holes can be made.
