What is a self-tapping screw?

Self-tapping screw sleeves are also called self-tapping sockets. They have the ability to self-tapping threads and can be directly screwed into specific holes. After installation, the thread strength is higher and the effect is good. Therefore, when the self-tapping screw sleeve is installed, the base material does not need to be tapped in advance, and the self-tapping screw sleeve can be directly screwed into a specific hole, thereby saving costs. Since the self-tapping screw sleeve has the ability of self-tapping thread, its slotted opening or round hole has the cutting function, so the installation is very convenient. The following two installation methods are introduced.
Self-tapping screw sleeve installation method 1: When the number of installations is small, a simple installation method can be adopted. Specifically, the method of corresponding specification bolt + nut is adopted to fix the self-tapping screw sleeve on the corresponding type of screw, and use the same type of nut. Fix it so that the three become a whole, then use a wrench to screw the screw sleeve into the bottom hole, and then withdraw the screw.
Self-tapping screw sleeve installation method 2: When the number of installations is large, a special self-tapping screw sleeve installation tool can be used. The end of the self-tapping screw sleeve installation tool is a hexagonal head, which can be connected to a manual tapping wrench, or an electric or pneumatic connection tool.

Precautions for installation of self-tapping screw sleeves:
1. For different processing materials, refer to the drilling size specifications for pre-drilling processing. When the hardness of the corresponding material is high, please slightly enlarge the bottom hole in the drilling range.
2. Fully install the self-tapping screw sleeve into the front end of the tool with one end of the slot downward, and it must contact the workpiece vertically. When installing (1 to 2 pitches), please make sure that it is aligned with the bottom hole and must not be inclined. When you notice a tilt, do not reverse the tool and readjust it before using it. Once you have entered 1/3 to 1/2, you cannot come back again. Also, please do not reverse the rotation of the tool, otherwise it will cause product failure.
